Item Metadata
All items in Campfire Studio support metadata to enhance searchability, reporting, and delivery. As item banks grow, comprehensive metadata makes it easier to locate, use, and analyze items effectively. While not all metadata is required, adding as much as possible is highly recommended.
Basic Metadata
These are foundational fields that define item status and visibility:
- Title (required) – The name of the item, used in searches and listings.
- Bank (required) – The item bank where the item is stored.
- Maturity – Indicates the item’s workflow stage (e.g., Draft, Review, Published).
- Vendor ID (optional) – An external reference identifier for third-party content.
- Visibility – Controls who can view the item.
- Searchability – Determines whether the item appears in search results.
- Creator (optional) – The user that originally authored the item.
Descriptive Metadata
These fields support search filtering, instructional alignment, and detailed reporting:
- Language – The language in which the item is written.
- Subject – Academic subject area (e.g., Math, Science).
- Grade Level – One or more grade levels the item is aligned to.
- Course – The academic course this item is a part of.
- Unit – A smaller instructional division within a course for more granular alignment.
- Keywords – Tags that improve search and categorization of content.
- Scoring Method – Describes how the item is scored (e.g., per question, dependent).
- Depth of Knowledge (DOK) – The complexity level of the item, based on the DOK framework.
- Bloom’s Taxonomy – The cognitive process associated with the item.

None of these fields are required, but they greatly enhance discoverability and instructional alignment.
Display Metadata
Optional fields that affect how the item is rendered during delivery:
- Font Scaling – Allows item content to be displayed at 2× or 3× its default size, improving accessibility or visibility on different devices.
